Agriculture of the future-Automation

Haygrove striving for the future

At Haygrove we believe that the only way is forward which is why we have such a strong focus on research and development. We believe that constant innovation is essential in order to create better; more user-friendly and cost-effective services for our clients. That is why we have partnered with AgrilogiQ to integrate an automation system in our polytunnels. Now, what does that mean exactly?

Well, the system consists out of a vent motorization system and an on-site dashboard that connects with internal and external weather stations. This system records wind speed and direction; rain, temperature; humidity, and Vapour Pressure Deficit (VPD0-this allows the grower to choose the most important factors to their crops on which to base the automation.

Why automate:

According to Chalimov (2021), there are a number of important reasons to start implementing automated systems into your farm such as ensuring the safety of your crops by controlling the environment to produce the best crops possible. This, in turn, can result in better quality produce and increased yields-thereby increasing your profits as well. Automation can also save you time by being able to control various factors of the system simultaneously and cutting down on hours needed to complete tasks manually. The automated systems can also be controlled more accurately which can save on costs such as water and electricity-which is also better for the environment!

How does it work?

First off you enter your unique automation parameters into the AgrilogiQ system which is then able to compare the internal environment with the outside environment. This enables the system to vent the structure in accordance with the grower’s individual requirements. The system has many safety features built in to keep your crops safe such as wind orientation; sun orientation and closure of the structure in the incident of rain. All these systems can be controlled remotely through a website interface ensuring that no matter where you are your crops are as safe as possible.

Our System Benefits:

  • Simple and easy to use
  • Decentralized load management for ease of modular expansion at field-scale
  • 4 position venting allowing stepped or sequential opening
  • Wireless communications decrease installation costs
  • Highly unique rain, wind, and sun safety algorithm
  • Input and output wireless connectivity allow cost-effective scalability for large projects
  • Greenhouses can vent automatically
  • Optimal climate at all times for maximum production and less stress to your plants
  • Access live and historic data & set parameters in the greenhouse or online
  • Vents can be set to open in any position (not just open & Closed)
  • Wireless connectivity allows cost-effective scalability for large projects
  • Reduced labour costs
